Training

Mercy Training Department is dedicated to coordinating, implementing and supervising the training of its employees so that they are equipped with the knowledge necessary to provide the highest standard of care to individuals with developmental disabilities. Mercy provides opportunities for training at varying times and days in order to do our best to ensure that employees meet training requirements within their first 90 days of employment per state regulations.

All employees who work for Mercy direct support programs are required to complete most of this mandated training PRIOR to beginning work with Mercy. Mercy provides this training via onsite and online courses, and new hires are compensated to take this training in accordance with the organization’s training policy.  This training is necessary to support individuals in our programs in a safe, individualized manner.  In addition to state-required training, employees receive training to best support the individuals to whom they provide support to include training on specific and individualized conditions, behavior support strategies, communication boards, and anything else deemed necessary by the individual’s team.

It is our commitment to ensure that all direct care staff receive the highest quality, state of the art training. Training is also ongoing to ensure that our direct support professionals keep current with skills, with changes in individual needs, and changes in information/best practices, and changes in regulations.
